Physiatry is a branch of medicine that emphasizes prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to nerves, muscles and bones that produce temporary or permanent injury. Do not be shy about asking your doctor for a referral to a physiatrist.  There are many physiatrists in Ottawa and their services are covered by OHIP.  You generally require a referral to get an appointment with a physiatrist.
