What Happens in the First 30 Days After You Hire Us

You’ve signed with Auger Hollingsworth, and your case is officially underway. Understandably, many clients expect immediate updates or dramatic developments—but the first 30 days are often quieter than expected. That doesn’t mean nothing is happening. In fact, this early period is one of the busiest times behind the scenes.

Here’s what we’re doing in those crucial first few weeks—and why patience during this stage will pay off later.

We Begin Building Your Case Immediately

As soon as you retain our firm, your legal team—including your lawyer, licensed paralegal or law clerk, and client care coordinator—begins the process of gathering the information we’ll need to advance your claim.

That includes requesting:

  • Hospital records and emergency room notes
  • Family doctor files and treatment plans
  • Physiotherapy and rehabilitation clinic records
  • Accident reports from police, property owners, or municipalities
  • Insurance documentation, including accident benefits or LTD claim files
  • Employment and income records, if relevant
  • Imaging reports (MRIs, X-rays, CT scans) from multiple facilities

Why It Takes Time

These records don’t arrive overnight. In fact, third-party providers are often slow to respond, and the process is more complicated than it seems:

  • Some providers require signed authorizations or specific forms
  • Many charge fees, which must be paid before records are released
  • Clinics may take 4–12 weeks to process even simple requests
  • Hospitals and insurers often require multiple follow-ups before sending anything

In nearly every case, our team must follow up multiple times to ensure the records arrive. We track these requests carefully and escalate delays when needed—but unfortunately, we can’t force third parties to move faster.

What You’ll Hear From Us During This Stage

Even if we don’t have major updates, you’ll still hear from your legal team. We’ll:

  • Confirm what we’ve requested
  • Let you know when records arrive
  • Ask follow-up questions to clarify details
  • Check in on your medical progress

If anything important happens—like an insurance company contacting us—we’ll update you immediately.

Why This Stage Matters

Everything we do in the first 30 days lays the foundation for a strong case. By the time we speak to an insurer about your claim, we want to have:

  • A full picture of your injuries
  • Documentation of your treatment
  • Evidence to support your losses and needs

Skipping this step or rushing forward without proper records can result in lower settlement offers or weakened negotiating power later.

You Focus on Healing—We’ll Handle the Rest

We know it’s hard to wait. But rest assured, your case is active. Our team is working behind the scenes, gathering what we need so we can advocate fiercely on your behalf when the time is right.

If you ever have questions during this stage, just reach out. We’re always here to explain, update, or simply reassure you.
