Recent Serious Motor Vehicle Collisions in Eastern Ontario
One of the most challenging aspects of pursuing justice for injured accident victims is reconstructing the collision when the people involved are seriously injured or deceased. Without their version of events, police are often at a loss when trying to determine what happened. As a result, they often seek the help of the public who may have dashcams that captured some or all the collision.
By-standers are often reluctant to get involved. That makes sense. It sounds inconvenient. But the difference you make to a family who does not have to litigate for years to determine who was at fault for the accident is so important that we hope you will strongly consider coming forward. It makes a world of difference.

Why Witnesses Matter After Road Tragedies
What’s striking when you look at the collisions across Eastern Ontario over the past six weeks is not just how many there have been, but how many remain under investigation because key information is still missing. Police in multiple jurisdictions — from Ottawa and Lanark County to Kingston, Cornwall, and the Upper Ottawa Valley — have all urged witnesses to come forward. Those appeals are a reminder that even a small detail can make a big difference.
Whether you were driving by moments after a crash, saw unusual driving beforehand, or captured something on your dashcam, that information can help investigators determine what really happened. For families waiting for answers, witness statements can be invaluable. They can help establish fault, uncover contributing factors like distracted or impaired driving, and sometimes even prevent future tragedies.
The past month and a half has been an especially difficult one on Eastern Ontario roads. By our count, there have been multiple serious collisions since mid-September — several involving fatalities, and many others causing life-altering injuries. A notable proportion have involved motorcycles, a pattern that’s sadly consistent with seasonal trends. As fall conditions set in, visibility drops, road surfaces become slick with leaves or early frost, and drivers sometimes fail to notice smaller vehicles sharing the road.
Each of these incidents represents not just statistics but real people — families, coworkers, and communities affected. When witnesses come forward promptly, they help everyone: the victims, the police, and ultimately the public.
If you or someone you know witnessed any of the collisions mentioned above, contact the investigating police service as soon as possible.
