Meet our new articling student, Gillian Mactaggart!
Although she is not new to Auger Hollingsworth, we would like to welcome Gillian Mactaggart to her new role as an articling student at the firm. Gillian was born in Scotland but grew up in Burlington, Ontario. After high school, she attended the University of Ottawa for her undergraduate degree where her studies focused on history and political science. Gillian has adopted Ottawa as her new home and loves the city for its scenic views and charming small-town feel.
Gillian started as a law clerk at Auger Hollingsworth in 2013 and quickly developed a passion for personal injury law. It is the satisfaction of helping people and the unique challenges that each case brings that she loves most about this area of law.
Gillian returned to school to obtain her law degree at the University of Glasgow in 2018. While pursuing her law degree, Gillian volunteered at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau where she provided assistance to low-income residents for a variety of different matters, including disability benefit entitlement, debtor-creditor, landlord-tenant disputes and employment disputes.
After returning to Canada in 2020, Gillian earned her certification from the National Committee of Accreditation. She is excited to begin her new role as an articling student at Auger Hollingsworth.
When Gillian is not working and studying for her upcoming Ontario Bar exams, she can typically be found walking with her husband and two dogs on one of Ottawa’s many nature trails. She also enjoys live music and attends Ottawa’s Bluesfest each year. Gillian is looking forward to travelling again once the world has re-opened. She has Thailand and Egypt on her bucket list of places to visit.
