Be Aware! End of Summer means Many Motor Vehicle Accidents in Ontatrio

You may be surprised to learn that many serious motor vehicle accidents happen in August and over the last long weekend of the summer.  Whether it is speed, distracted driving, impaired driving or even just extra volume, we always see a significant uptick in cases that start with an accident in August. Please be extra cautious so you do not become part of these startling statistics.

What Do I Do If I Have A Car Accident?

Remember that if you do have an accident, your number one priority should be your personal safety and the personal safety of all involved.  Get out of harm’s way and make sure to contact emergency services (911).

Second, ensure that you and anyone in your care receives appropriate medical attention.

If you or someone else on the scene is able to do so, gather the other drivers’ personal information including name, driver’s license number, insurance information, license plate and address and phone number.

Again, if possible, secure photos of the vehicles involved before they are moved.

Be sure to get medical attention the same day as the accident if at all possible, paying close attention to possible head injury.
