Ottawa Area Single-Vehicle Accidents Cause Multiple Deaths, Injuries

Eastern Ontario was the site of two devastating single-vehicle accidents over the past couple of days.

On October 25 the driver and sole occupant of a Chrysler Intrepid travelling on Carp Road near Rothbourne Road (just south of Highway 417) lost control, driving into a hydro pole at the roadside. A witness told police that a large rock had smashed through the windshield and into the driver’s forehead in the moments leading up to the collision. Paramedics found the man unconscious and declared him dead at 10:30 PM.

The same day, a 20-year-old man was killed in a Renfrew area single-vehicle accident on Highway 60 near Rice Line. When police were called at about 3:25 AM, they discovered four occupants inside the vehicle – all of whom had been injured. The driver was transported to hospital, where he died later in the day.
